Starting January 2025, the Digital Equity Capacity Grant will launch with the maximum allocation of $2.1 million. These funds will support critical Digital Equity (DE) projects aimed at bridging the digital divide, ensuring access to resources, and empowering underserved communities.
Additionally, the USDA Broadband Technical Assistance Grant has awarded $500,000 to the Broadband Policy and Development (BPD) Office. These funds will enhance technical capacity and expedite environmental permitting processes, paving the way for seamless broadband infrastructure development.
And there’s more to come: CNMI anticipates receiving the maximum $2.5 million from the Digital Equity Competitive Grant in early 2025. These additional funds will complement the DE Capacity Grant, enabling even more impactful projects that prioritize inclusivity, accessibility, and digital empowerment.

Shaping the Future: Governor’s Broadband Bootcamp Launches in 2025

This groundbreaking program is managed by Northern Marianas College (NMC) with support from the Department of Labor (DOL), NMTech and Island Training Solutions (ITS).
Over a rigorous four-month period, 300 selected trainees will dive deep into specialized broadband and digital technology training. To support participants, the program includes a $6,000 living stipend, ensuring accessibility and financial relief for those taking part. The goal? To equip CNMI’s workforce with cutting-edge tech knowledge while providing immediate practical benefits.
This initiative is more than a training program—it’s a building block for a future-ready CNMI. By fostering digital literacy and career-readiness, the Broadband Bootcamp aims to empower the local community, create job opportunities, and strengthen CNMI’s competitiveness in a growing digital economy.
Building a Digital Bridge: Submarine Cables and Global Connectivity
